Update required for monitored European Union sanctions lists

Last updated: April 7, 2026

As of April 28, 2025, the following three EU sanctions lists were suspended and their data was fully integrated into our comprehensive new source, European Union Council Restrictive Measures:

  • European Council Restrictive Measures in View of the Situation in Belarus

  • European Council List of Designated Vessels

  • European Council Restrictive Measures on Russian Entities Destabilising the Situation in Ukraine

Why is this important?

Continuing to use the suspended lists can lead to significant issues, including:

  • Screening against outdated information, creating potential compliance gaps.

  • An increase in false positive alerts, as entities may be duplicated across the old lists and the new consolidated list.

  • Missing new designations, as updates are no longer applied to the suspended sources.

Transitioning to the new European Union Council Restrictive Measures list ensures you are screening against the most current data, sourced directly from the Official Journal of the EU. This improves compliance accuracy and reduces unnecessary alert noise.

Action required: Please update your screening configuration

To ensure uninterrupted and accurate sanctions screening, please take the following steps as soon as possible:

  1. Review your monitored sources: Log in to your account and check which EU sanctions lists you are currently monitoring.

  2. Deactivate suspended lists: Remove or deactivate the three suspended lists mentioned above from your screening configuration.

  3. Activate the two active lists: Confirm that you have added and activated the European Union Council Restrictive Measures source and the EU External Action Service - Consolidated List of Sanctions.

For the most robust risk management strategy, we continue to recommend our clients monitor both the new, rapidly updated European Union Council Restrictive Measures list (which contains all European restrictive measures) and the detailed EU External Action Service - Consolidated List of Sanctions (which contains all European asset freezes).
