Creating Custom Scenarios with the Scenario Builder
Last updated: April 7, 2026
What is the Scenario Builder?
The Scenario Builder allows you to create customized transaction monitoring scenarios using natural language. These scenarios are then stored within a Scenario Configuration. Instead of writing complex code, you can simply describe the conditions under which you want an alert to be generated. Our system translates your description into the necessary code, allowing you to quickly adapt to emerging risks and focus on the transactions that matter most.
This gives you the flexibility to build highly specific rules that target unique or suspicious patterns of behavior, enhancing the effectiveness of your transaction monitoring program.
How does the scenario builder help?
Increased Agility: Rapidly create and deploy new scenarios to respond immediately to new and evolving financial crime threats.
Enhanced Focus: Prioritize alerts based on risk level, ensuring your team dedicates their time to the highest-risk transactions first.
Improved Efficiency: Empower your compliance team to take direct control, reducing reliance on technical teams to build and implement new scenarios.
Customized Risk Management: Tailor your transaction monitoring to the specific risks your business faces by applying scenarios to distinct customer segments.
How to Create a Scenario
Follow these steps to create a new transaction monitoring scenario:
Navigate to Scenario Configurations: From the main dashboard, click on the settings cog in the top-right corner of the Mesh web app. Select "Scenario Configurations" from the menu.
Select a Configuration: From the list, choose the specific scenario configuration where you want to add your new scenario.
Start Scenario Creation: Click the "Actions" button in the top-right corner of the page and select "Create Scenario" from the dropdown menu.
Describe Your Scenario: In the window that appears, use plain English to describe the conditions that must be true for an alert to be generated.
For example, you could write: "Alert me when a customer makes more than 3 outgoing international transfers in 24 hours."
Validate the Scenario: The system will process your request and translate it into a readable, natural-language summary for your validation.
Accept or Refine:
If the system's interpretation correctly matches your intent, click Accept to create the scenario.
If the interpretation is not quite right, select Try Again to rephrase your request.
