Adding notes to an alert
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Notes can be added to individual alerts within a case to record observations, reasoning, or any relevant details specific to that alert. Like case notes, alert notes are time-stamped with the name of the user who added them and cannot be deleted. Notes can be added to alerts in both open and closed cases.
Note: Alert notes are distinct from case notes. Case notes apply to the case as a whole; alert notes are scoped to the specific alert you are reviewing.

Adding a note to an alert
Open a case by clicking on it from the Cases list.
In the alert panel on the left-hand side of the case view, select the alert you want to add a note to.
Within the alert detail view, click the notes icon to open the alert notes panel.
Type your note in the text field. Notes can be up to 5000 characters long.
Click Add note to save.
The note is saved immediately and appears in the alert notes panel with a timestamp and your name. It is also captured in the case audit trail.
Viewing alert notes
Alert notes are visible to all users who have access to the case. To view existing notes on an alert:
Open the case and select the relevant alert from the alert panel.
Click the notes icon in the alert detail view. The notes panel opens on the right, showing all notes in chronological order.
Things to know
Alert notes cannot be deleted once added.
Alert notes are not the same as case notes — they are scoped to the specific alert. A note added to an alert will not appear in the case-level notes panel.
Alert notes appear in the case audit trail, giving your team a full record of when notes were added and by whom.
The character limit for alert notes is 5000 characters.
